Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use PCSX2 Emulator 3ds (package com.pcsx2emu.player) on Android. In short: there is no account, your BIOS, games and saves stay on your device, a few optional features download content from the internet, and the app shows ads from trusted advertising partners.
No account, no profile
You can use the app without signing up. We do not ask for your name, e-mail address, phone number or any other personal details, and we do not run our own user database.
Your BIOS, games and saves
The app is an emulator only: it includes no BIOS and no games. You import a BIOS dumped from your own console and choose your games folder with Android's own pickers.
- The BIOS is checked and stored inside the app, on your device.
- Your game files, save states, memory cards, cheats, custom covers and settings stay locally on your device.
- None of them is ever uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- You can remove the app's access to a folder in Android's settings at any time; uninstalling the app deletes the data it keeps in its own storage.
Content the app downloads
Some features fetch files from public services on the internet. These requests carry standard technical data such as your IP address and device type, which those services may log under their own policies:
- Cover art — box art is downloaded from public cover repositories (hosted on GitHub) using the game's disc identifier, then cached on your device.
- Texture packs — only when you choose to install one, it is downloaded from the community host you pick in the app.
- App settings — at start, a small settings file (which ad partner to use, the app's colors) is downloaded from our server. Our hosting provider may keep basic request logs briefly for security; we do not use them to identify you.
Achievements (optional)
Achievement tracking is powered by RetroAchievements. It is off unless you sign in. If you do, your RetroAchievements username and login are sent directly to RetroAchievements.org, together with the game you play and the achievements you unlock, under their terms and privacy policy. We never receive or store your RetroAchievements credentials. You can sign out at any time.
Controllers and Bluetooth
The app asks for the Bluetooth permission only to connect your wireless gamepad, and may use vibration for controller feedback. It does not scan for or collect information about other nearby devices.
Advertising
The app is free and is supported by ads. To show and measure ads, it uses these advertising partners, which may collect information from your device such as the advertising ID, device model and operating system, IP address (from which an approximate location can be derived), and how you interact with ads:
- Google AdMob — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Audience Network — facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Yandex Mobile Ads — yandex.com/legal/confidential
- Wortise — wortise.com/privacy-policy
- Unity LevelPlay (ironSource) — unity.com/legal
Each partner handles that data under its own privacy policy. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, at any time in Android's Settings › Privacy › Ads (or Google › Ads on some devices).
What we do not collect
- No contacts, photos, messages or call logs.
- No microphone or camera access.
- No precise (GPS) location.
- No contents of your BIOS, game files or saves.
- No sale of your personal information.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.
Security
Data the app keeps stays on your device under Android's app storage protections, and its network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections.
Open source
The emulation core is based on open-source software released under the GNU General Public License. It does not add any data collection of its own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version; important changes will be announced in the app or on its store page.
